There's a new animated cartoon on Google (www.google.com) today to celebrate Thanksgiving. In it, the second "o" in "Google" is a turkey, and when he realizes that it's Thanksgiving, he looks around and gulps, then holds up a picture of himself and dons a disguise (hat, sunglasses, suitcase) so nobody will recognize him and have him as their main course.

Here's a link to Google's explanation of the doodle: https://www.google.com/doodles/thanksgiving-2017.

Today, Google (http://www.google.com) is celebrating the winter solstice (first day of winter and shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere) with another animated cartoon. In it, a cute little mouse leaves his underground house to go ice skating. When he returns home, he's covered with snow and looks like a giant snowball. After shaking off the snow, he goes back outside and skates some more.

I found a good article describing the "Snow Games" doodles. It also contains a three-minute video at the top, with highlights of many winter Olympic games from the past. If you want to read it, here's the link: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/go ... technology.

Note: All 17 doodles can eventually be viewed here: https://www.google.com/doodles/series/s ... d=69382847

There is a new animated Doodle on Google (http://www.google.com) today to celebrate Fred Rogers, who had a children's television show (called Mister Rogers' Neighborhood) for 51 years.

The "Celebrating Mister Rogers" video on the Google home page doesn't work on all computers, so if you need an alternate link, here it is:

If you want to see a behind-the-scenes video from the Mister Rogers Doodle Team regarding creation of the Doodle, click here:

And you'll find written background information about Mister Rogers, including links to both of the above videos, here:

Today is the Fall Equinox 2018 (Northern Hemisphere), or first day of autumn in the United States and elsewhere throughout the world, so there's another new animated cartoon on Google (www.google.com) to celebrate it. During this time, the sun is directly over the equator, and night and day are almost exactly equal in length.

According to Google, "This year’s seasonal Doodle series protagonist, Quinn [a stick figure with a head that looks like an acorn], curiously follows the path of a falling leaf, waking up a new friend hidden in the deciduous mound [of leaves on the ground]. Surely as the trees begin to turn, many, like Quinn, will find warmth in the company of friends old and new, and fun in the potential of colorful, crunchy leaf piles!" Today, Google (www.google.com) is celebrating their 20th birthday with another animated cartoon. An article written by the Doodle team gives some background information about Google, then says: "Today’s video Doodle takes a stroll down memory lane by exploring popular searches all over the world throughout the last two decades." At the end of the article, they say "thank you" in many different languages.

Today, Google (http://www.google.com) is celebrating Thanksgiving with another animated cartoon. It shows a family of mice sitting down at the table to eat Thanksgiving dinner, but instead of carving a turkey, the father is slicing pieces of cheese.

An article written by the Doodle team gives some background information about Thanksgiving, then says: "Today’s Doodle aims to capture the spirit of the day and hopes to be a grate reminder that blessings can come in all shapes and sizes—even mouse-sized ones!"
